Real Magazine Arrives in Homes of Unchurched Children

The first issue of Real magazine was mailed to more than 3,000 children in January, taking Christ-centered content into the homes of unchurched children across North America.

“This new outreach publication has been in the works for two years, and we’ve been dreaming of it for much longer,” said Randy Fishell, editor of Real. “It’s exciting to see the magazine getting into the hands of thousands of young people.”

The names on the subscriber list were submitted by Adventist preteens, grandparents, teachers, and others wanting to share the gospel with young friends and family members outside the church. Subscription are free to unchurched children ages 9-15.

“[Our granddaughter] and her mom are not Adventists,” wrote one individual requesting a subscription of Real for a grandchild. “Her stepdad . . . was brought up Adventist but no longer attends church. Pray for the family!”

“I know there are thousands of church members like this one who yearn for the salvation of their loved ones, neighbors, and friends,” said Fishell. “Real provides a nonthreatening way to introduce Bible truth to children at an age when their hearts are especially open to the gospel.”

In addition to the free subscriptions, thousands of copies of the premiere issue have been sent free of charge to churches and other organizations for use in community outreach. Donations cover the cost of subscriptions and bulk distribution.

Real was developed by the editors of Guide, the Seventh-day Adventist publication for juniors and earliteens. Published bimonthly, Real contains true stories, puzzles, fun facts, Bible studies, and other spiritually uplifting content that appeals to young readers. The magazine encourages children to begin a saving friendship with Jesus and challenges them to live for Him.
